“Glory Glory” is a chant in association football and other sports in the United Kingdom. It is set to the music of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” an American Civil War song with the chorus “Glory, Glory, Hallelujah” – the chant replaces “Hallelujah” with the preferred team’s name (or a four-syllable version). Because of the chant’s popularity, numerous clubs have made it an official team song.

Manchester United Anthem Lyrics

Glory glory Man united,
Glory glory Man united,
Glory glory Man united,
As the reds go marching on on on!

Just like the busby days and days gone by,
We’ll keep the red flags flying high,
Your gonna see us all from far and wide,
Your gonna hear the Mans that sing with pride.

United, Man united,
We’re the boys in red and we’re on our way to Wembely!

Wembely, Wembely,
We’re the famous Man united and we’re going to Wembely,
Wembely, Wembely,
We’re the famous Man united and we’re going to Wembely

At 77 it was Docherty,
Atkinson would make it ’83,
And everyone will no just who we are,
They’ll be singing que sera sera

United, Man united,
We’re the boys in red and we’re on our way to Wembely!

Wembely, Wembely,
We’re the famous Man united and we’re going to Wembely,
Wembely, Wembely,
We’re the famous Man united and we’re going to Wembely

Glory glory Man united,
Glory glory Man united,
Glory glory Man united,
As the reds go marching On on on!

Glory glory Man united,
Glory glory Man united,
Glory glory Man united,
As the reds go marching On on on!

Glory glory Man united,
Glory glory Man united,
Glory glory Man united,
As the reds go marching On on on!

Manchester United Anthem History

The Manchester United team issued a record called “Glory Glory Man United” ahead to the 1983 FA Cup Final. Frank Renshaw, a member of Herman’s Hermits in the 1970s and 1980s, wrote the song. Renshaw’s son Lee sang on the album, which was done at Strawberry Studios in Stockport with the football club and several of Renshaw’s friends.

This song has been sung by Manchester United fans since the early 1980s. In the 1990s, it became trendy for opposing fans to change the lyrics of the song when playing Manchester United to which Man United fans mockingly sang after scoring or winning against a rival team.

“The World Red Army” wrote and recorded a full-length rendition of “Glory Glory Man United” in 2007, which was produced by Will Robinson and Michael Graves. At Old Trafford, it became the official song. A decade later, a new version titled “Glory Glory Man United 2” was published, with some lyrical alterations to fit the current United team.
