- Ethiopia has arrived in Cameroon as the first team for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Wubetu Abate’s team arrived at Nsimalen International Airport on Sunday evening in preparation for their Group A matches, which begin on January 9.
Ethiopia’s first two group games (against Cape Verde and Cameroon) will be held in Yaounde, while their final group match will be held in Bafoussam against Burkina Faso.
The Walia Ibex began their tournament preparations with a training session at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Annex 1 Stadium after passing coronavirus tests upon arrival.
Ethiopia has only won the African Cup of Nations once, in 1962, and they were runners-up in 1957.
Ethiopia returned to the Afcon stage in 2013, after a 31-year absence, and that would be their final appearance.
They enter the competition ranked 137th in Fifa’s December rankings.
